Flat Glass

Flat glass- it is known to many as stained glass or leaded glass. But not all flat glass is stained or leaded. Some pieces are fabricated with copper foil, and many pieces are not "stained." A common misconception in flat glass is that the flat glass artist themselves are "coloring" the glass, when in a sparse reality does that happen. The term "stained glass" does not come from the flat glass artists coloring sheets of glass purples, pinks, or even greens. It comes from a process of which a rare variety apply "silver stain" to a sheet of glass. This stain penetrates through the glass, permanently changing the color of that glass, it "stains" the glass. This is typically used in small sections and colors the glass shades from shades pale yellow to a rich amber.
